ZooParc Overloon en Stichting Wildlife zoeken vrijwilligers voor educatieve rol
ZooParc Overloon and Stichting Wildlife are looking for new volunteers who want to get involved in nature education. For example, they give guided tours, accompany children's parties or are hosts in the park's various themed areas. There will be an information morning for those interested on Saturday 30 November.
Volunteers are essential for the Wildlife Foundation, the organisation dedicated to nature conservation and education. Coordinator Niels Meboer: ‘They are the heart of our educational programme. Their enthusiasm and commitment make a huge difference in how visitors experience animals and nature conservation. We are therefore looking for people who want to join us in contributing to nature conservation.’
Record amount raised
Besides educational tasks, volunteers at ZooParc dedicate themselves to raising money for conservation projects. Last year, for instance, a sum of 26,000 euros was raised for three projects.
This year, the focus is on clouded leopards and red pandas. And that is going well: a record amount of over 30,000 euros has already been raised. Meboer: ‘This is the first time we have reached the target amount so early, thanks in part to the volunteers who are working on this. These projects can really use every euro, so we will continue raising for a while. For example, visitors can buy bands and key rings in the park, with all the proceeds going to the charity.’
Training
The foundation currently has about 40 volunteers in the park. Anyone who is over 18, has a command of the Dutch language and is enthusiastic can apply. They must be available at least two half-days a month; working hours are always by mutual agreement and are laid down in a schedule. New volunteers receive training from the foundation so that they are well prepared to start work. This starts on 14 December. Additional benefits include a staff drink and a Christmas package.
During the information morning on 30 November, interested parties will hear more about the tasks and be able to ask questions. The morning will take place from 10am to 12pm at ZooParc. Registration for this meeting is possible until 23 November at info@stichtingwildlife.nl.
