ZooParc is looking for new volunteers for nature education

ZooParc Overloon and the Wildlife Foundation are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who want to contribute to nature education at the park. Tasks include giving guided tours, supervising children’s parties, or serving as hosts in the various themed areas. An information session will be held on Saturday morning, October 18.

Volunteers play a crucial role at Stichting Wildlife, the organization dedicated to nature conservation and education at locations such as ZooParc. Volunteer coordinator Niels Meboer explains: “Our volunteers are the heart of our educational program. Their enthusiasm and dedication ensure that visitors get to know the animals and better understand the importance of nature conservation. We therefore hope to find new people who are enthusiastic about this.”

In addition to educational tasks, volunteers also help with fundraising campaigns for nature conservation projects. Last year, a record amount of over 30,000 euros was raised for the protection of clouded leopards and red pandas. This year, the foundation is raising funds for projects linked to the new Ngyuwe expedition area: the Okapi Conservation Project and IBREAM, which conducts research on pygmy hippos. Visitors can contribute by purchasing items such as bracelets and keychains in the park.

Who is it for?

The foundation currently has about forty volunteers. New volunteers must be at least 18 years old and fluent in Dutch. They are expected to be available for three half-days per month, including one half-day on the weekend. Workdays are always scheduled in consultation with the volunteers. Everyone receives training in advance so they can start their work well-prepared. Perks such as a staff get-together and a Christmas gift basket are also part of the package.
