About Ngyuwe
In 2025, ZooParc Overloon will open the expedition area Ngyuwe, a unique experience that takes visitors into the enchanting world of Tropical Africa. This new area, inspired by countries such as Ivory Coast and Congo, stretches over two hectares, making it the largest construction project in ZooParc history. Here you will have the chance to admire special animals up close and learn more about this unique region.
During your exploration in Ngyuwe, you will not only admire special animals, but also gain insight into the challenges the region faces, such as poaching and deforestation. This combination of nature, adventure and awareness makes Ngyuwe a unique experience. From the summer of 2025 you are welcome to explore the area for yourself!

Project of the Year 2025
ZooParc Overloon is actively committed to nature conservation through the Wildlife Foundation. This year's project: 'Save Our African Rainforest'. It focuses on the preservation of African rainforests. The Okapi Conservation Project in Congo helps protect okapis and yellow-backed divers. In Ivory Coast, IBREAM is surveying the pygmy hippopotamus population with cameras and GPS collars. You'll soon find all of these animals in Ngyuwe.

Okapi coming to Ngyuwe
This summer, ZooParc Overloon welcomes a special new resident: the okapi. This rare and endangered species will soon be on display in the new expedition area Ngyuwe. Okapis are threatened in the wild by deforestation and poaching. Through a European Management Program (EEP), ZooParc is helping to preserve this species. The okapis will have a spacious enclosure with lots of greenery and shelter and will live together with yellowbacked divers and dikdiks.

Where can you find the expedition area?
Currently, construction is still in full swing, but soon Ngyuwe will also be part of your expedition. The area can be found towards the end of the expedition, between Ngorongoro and Madidi. In Ngyuwe you will discover 19 animal species divided over a huge area with lots of forestation, a river and even a night animal enclosure.
